During a 25.5 mile hike from Crooked Creek, 9,600', to the summit of White Mountain 14,246'. July 9 - 22 1993. with BB & MB. July 16. camping at Fish Creek, a cold morning. water frozen. hike up a dry wash to 11,000' & draw the view Northeast down the South fork of McAfee Creek. July 17. a typical day up 5:15. light campfire. melt ice for breakfast. hike up to painting site. paint all day in hot sun & strong wind using melted snow for paintwater, a pair of eagles swish past. a hummingbird inspects the yellow pegs on my drawingboard. return to camp at dusk. 7:30 July 18 . move camp up to the dolomite. a tiny flat area on the edge of a cliff with a drop of 1,000'. July 19. climb 750' to next painting site.
