In September 2004, as part of his new series "In Search of a Bigger Subject", Tony was painting in and around The Grand Canyon.

These are the largest watercolours that Tony has attempted. The first is as it was on site partially done and the rest pencilled in with extensive colour notes ready for completion when he gets home to his studio.

Here, several weeks later, is the picture completed in his studio. The Phoenix Art Museum have since purchased this painting for their permanent collection. "From Point Sublime looking ESE" measures 36" x 72" (91cm x 183cm), and must be one of the largest watercolours ever achieved on site.
