19 – 23 September 2002 · with “Sir” Paul · Valentina · Mr Gibson · Chalky · Metaphysics · the White-Collared Swifts return to their roost behind the falls in such numbers and dive at such speeds that the sound of their wings slicing through the air can be heard above the thunderous crash of the water · 20 September · as I prepare to leave my site, just before dusk, swarms of tiny biting insects besiege me · quickly followed – in the nick of time like the Hollywood Cavalry – by hundreds of large dragonflies which rush to & fro, snapping them up in mid air · (Arrow donated by the Patamona Tribe) ·
