· Prismatic Pool from 200' up a Hill to the North · July 3 – 7 2002 · with KO · PM · our campsite is dusty, shadeless & buggy · surrounded by dead & fallen trees · each day at my painting site I work perched on a 45º slope in oppressive heat · Grizzly Bears are a constant concern · opinion is divided on the best technique if attacked · we carry pepper spray & when walking alone I bang my stick on my drawing board to warn them · most nights one visits our campsite & leaves a souvenir · a squirrel picks a small fungus & runs up a tree & out onto a dead snag · it places it carefully in a forked twig · it is still there days later – presumably drying for winter? |
