Sunday 11 Feb 2001 · with CM·RM·MN·FS·JS·AV·BV + 7 mules carrying food, equipment and 2 rafts set off into the rainforest · the trail a sea of red mud · wade across several fast flowing thigh deep rivers · arrive at a clearing above Rio Plátano as dusk and rain are falling ·12 Feb · a miserable start · muddy · cold rain · wet clothes · heavy rafts · while shooting waterfalls I’m thrown out of the raft twice · pitch camp in a series of thrashing rainstorms · start work sheltering under an umbrella · 13 Feb · painting site underwater · I work as best I can ·
