'Tuesday March 24. a hot and humid day. walk through the forest on overgrown trails only discernible by following marked trees. find painting site with shade and few insects on a ridge on the Sendero Ollas. start drawing. March 25. Up at 5. drawing all morning. painting all afternoon. March 26. painting all day. the sound of an eagle overhead terrifies the howler monkeys. swimming in a lagoon on the Rio Claro at night I hear the crash of a large crocodile hitting the water. March 27. painting all day. a scarlet macaw picks all the buttons off my spare shirt. March 28. finished painting. at night when swimming in the Rio Claro I see a crocodile seize a water opossum.'
