Mt Shasta and Shastina from a hill due north · 29 · 30 · 31st August 1997 · searching Shasta for a painting Site 26·27·28 August · 1st September · with BB·PB · 30th August · at 2:00 I hear branches being ripped off bushes just below my painting site · after a while I go to see what has happened · I push through some brush and a large black bear jumps up · startled · just ahead of me and jogs off · its fur is shiny and it ripples with energy · I go back to work while it continues to crash around ·
